The Community School of Maryland is fully staffed by professionals and para professionals with specialized training in meeting the educational needs of students with autism. Teachers and instructional aides receive specialized training in autism. Related services personnel have expertise in autism as well as their professional area of expertise. School staff have ongoing consultation with professionals with expertise in autism. Staff are provided with ongoing professional development in areas pertaining to providing specialized educational services to students with autism.
Brian Tureck
Director of Education
btureck@csaac.orgBrian Tureck has been at the Community School since 2017. He has worked in education for 25 years, including more than 10 years working in special education settings. Brian has a BA in Public Policy from the College of William and Mary and a MEd in Counseling from the University of Virginia. Throughout his career, Brian has been focused on student-centered education – looking at the whole child and doing what is necessary to meet the individual needs of that student. Brian believes that the more students feel respected and supported in their classes, the better they will perform and the more progress they will make. The desire to provide this sort of classroom is what drew Brian to special education and the Community School of Maryland.

Sbehzadi@csaac.orgSean is a the Administrative Head at Community School of Maryland. Sean earned his Masters in Management, Bachelor’s in Psychology from University Maryland University College. Sean has a several years experience working with students Autism in school, home and community environments.

Adelany@csaac.orgAlida has been employed with CSAAC and working with individuals with Autism for over 20 years, and has been serving as the school coordinator for over a decade. Alida has Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from the University of Liberia.
Andrew Firestone
Special Education Teacher
Mr. Andrew Firestone has worked in education since 2011, all in various special education settings. He has a B.A. in Broadcasting Journalism from American University, a Masters in Education from Fordham University, and a certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis from Mercy College. Andrew joined the Community School of Maryland in December 2018 and after a brief exit, returned in October 2021.
Throughout his career, Andrew has been focused on the child and doing what is best for the child. Andrew believes that providing an individualized approach to helping those with a developmental disability will breed an increased likelihood of success for the student. Andrew also believes in providing multiple ways for students to display their knowledge. It is this sort of dedication to the child that drew Andrew to the Community School of Maryland.
Anthony Gillum
Administrative Specialist
Mr. Anthony Gillum affectionately known as “ Mr. Tony” is the Administrative Specialist here at the Community School of Maryland. He has served at CSM for 16 years in numerous capacities supporting our students, our staff and our administration. He is a veteran who served 8 years in the U.S. Navy and brings over 25 years of management and administrative experience to us. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Leadership and Development Program.
Bianca McCoy
Special Education Teacher
Bianca McCoy is a Special Education Teacher here at CSAAC with over 16 years of educational experience, 7 of which are with special needs students. With her Associate’s in Early Childhood Education and Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and Management, she will be including a Master’s in Special Education to her repertoire very soon. Bianca flocked to CSAAC not only because of the commitment to children, but also serving adults with Autism. When not hard at work creating lesson plans, she enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, as well as crocheting to her favorite songs.
Carly Salimbene, MA, CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Carly Salimbene, M.A., CCC-SLP is an American Speech-Language-Hearing-Association (ASHA) board certified and Maryland licensed speech-language pathologist. She is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology. Carly joined the Community School of Maryland (CSM) team in May 2021 with a pediatric therapy background in both the educational and outpatient settings. She has a passion for working with pediatric and young adult populations with a variety of disorders and has a special interest in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Carly feels fortunate to work at CSM alongside such a dedicated team of professionals that are invested in helping and empowering each student to reach his or her full potential.
Cecelia Weeks, LPN
School Nurse
Cecelia Weeks has been a dedicated nurse since 2006, bringing a wealth of experience and compassion to her role. For the past three years, she has been an invaluable part of the team at the Community School of Maryland, where she is committed to providing exceptional care to our students. Before joining our school, Cecelia specialized in geriatric care, developing a deep understanding of the unique needs of older adults. Her diverse nursing background and dedication to student well-being make her a key asset to our community. Cecelia is currently advancing her education at Montgomery Community College, where she is pursuing her RN degree.
Colleen Williams
Board Certified Behavior Analyst
CWilliams@csaac.orgMs. Colleen Williams, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA is a Board-certified Behavior Analyst and Licensed Behavior Analyst in the state of Maryland. Colleen found her passion for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) at Ivymount School in 2006, where she was able to utilize her love for working with children, as well as her love for science - by being able to analyze data to visually see behavior progress and program effectiveness. Watching individuals make progress is one of the most rewarding aspects of behavior analysis and why she chose this field of service. Colleen has been working in the field of ABA for 12 years, with children and adults ages 2-92 with a variety of behaviors and diagnoses.
Colleen Williams has expertise as an ABA supervisor, trainer, director, adjunct professor, in-home and school consultant, and she recently served as a court-approved ABA expert witness for behavior plan creation and implementation. She recently was appointed as Communications Officer for a non-profit ABA organization in DC, which works to spread understanding about the science of ABA to lawmakers and insurance companies for families who need services and to promote ABA implementation and funding for families and professionals in our nation's capital. Colleen also seeks to reduce dangerous behaviors, increase language, and increase independence and quality of life for all her students. Colleen started with CSAAC in 2016 and joined the Community School of Maryland in January 2018. She is grateful to be a part of team CSAAC.
David Orlando Caicedo
Colombian born artist Orlando Caicedo grew up eating arepas and drawing. After completing his BFA with a concentration in Illustration at the Atlanta College of Art, he decided to do that full-time. He’s the winner of Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment/LINE Webtoon Superhero Comics Contest as well as the Mad Cave Talent Search. His published work includes illustrating the critically acclaimed graphic novel Colin Kaepernick: Change the Game published by Graphix, Webtoon’s The Badguys and Pound, and Mad Cave Studios’ Dryfoot . He worked in animation before shifting to comics on hit shows such as the Emmy Award-winning Archer for FX and Frisky Dingo for Adult Swim. He is passionate about teaching art, dedicated to inspiring and motivating students to explore and express their creativity through visual arts.
Hannah Long
Special Education Teacher
Hannah Long joined the CSAAC team in 2021. She studied Special Education for five years and received her bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 2020. She loves the beach, dogs, pasta of all kinds, and working with children and young adults. Her love for working with special needs students started during her junior year of high school when she joined a club called Best Buddies. She has been working with students with disabilities ever since. Hannah is proud to work at a school that respects and values the needs of every individual.
Kathleen Bachiochi, MS, CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Kathleen graduated with a Master's Degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in Speech & Language Pathology in 2007. After working for 4 years in the New York City public schools, and in Early Intervention in New York for more than 10 years, she and her family moved down to Maryland. She joined the Community School of Maryland in April of 2021 and has loved getting to work with such dedicated faculty and staff.
Lorivi Gabrintina, COTA/L
Occupational Therapist
Ms. Lori is a licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) and has enjoyed working with children and adolescents on the spectrum for over 10 years and has worked with families for over 15 years. She has worked in a variety of settings in Southern California as well as the DMV area including daycares, public and private schools, rehabilitation hospitals/clinics, and private practices. She has been with the Community School of Maryland for 2-3 years.
Lori earned her B.A in Child Development and Family Studies from California State University Long Beach and her Occupational Therapy Assistant degree at Stanbridge University. Lori’s special interests include sensory regulation exercises/activities, typing, and handwriting.
Lori thoroughly enjoys working with all families and tries to put the fun in FUNctional when it comes to her sessions.
Jake Spence

Jake believes that having fun in the classroom is just as important as being serious and that caring for and respecting each and every student will bring out their full potential. Jake graduated from West Virginia University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
Margaret Jones
Transition Coordinator
MJones@csaac.orgMs. Margaret Jones is a licensed speech-language pathologist assistant (SLP-A) and has enjoyed working with children and adolescents on the spectrum for over 25 years. She has worked in a variety of settings in Montgomery County, Prince Georges County, and the District of Columbia, including public and private schools, rehabilitation hospitals/clinics, and private practices. She has been with the Community School of Maryland for 8 years.
Margaret earned her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Howard University (Washington, D.C.) and an M.S. in Health Promotion/Education from Maryland University of Integrative Health (Laurel, MD). She also holds her certification in special education with an emphasis in Hearing Impairment from Mico University and Teachers College (Kingston, Jamaica).
She has special training in Prompts for Restructuring Oral-Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and American Sign Language (ASL). Margaret’s special interests include acquisition articulation, autism, oral motor and dysphagia (feeding and swallowing).
Margaret believes that her passion for working and collaborating with other professionals for the betterment of children and individuals with communication disorders has been rewarding and fulfilling. She views each interaction with students and their support staff as a unique opportunity to impact their communication skills and overall learning.
Michael Mentzel
Speech-Language Therapist
Dr. Michael Mentzel is a speech-language therapist specializing in supporting the effective communication of neurodivergent individuals. With a diverse educational and clinical background encompassing multiple disciplines, Michael is at the forefront of the movement in speech-language pathology to use affirming therapeutic approaches firmly rooted in the principles of neurodiversity. Michael believes in the importance of considering the subjective experience of neurodivergent individuals, considering their needs holistically, and in supporting their autonomy in the implementation of therapy interventions. Michael specializes in supporting the language development of Gestalt Language Processors and applying the principles of natural language acquisition in both academic and clinical settings.
Michael's pioneering work supporting young neurodivergent adults in transition-to-work programs such as Project SEARCH® and Community Connection has brought needed attention to the critical role of the language of self-identity and self-advocacy in combatting the employment crisis to improve employment outcomes. Through his experience supporting neurodivergent college students in the University of Maryland’s SIGNA program, Michael also learned the importance of executive functioning support and self-advocacy in the post-secondary academic setting. Understanding that no two neurodivergent individuals are alike, Michael is passionate about creating communication interventions that are tailored to the unique communication differences of every individual. He believes the primary goal of speech-language therapy is to facilitate communication that is authentic, spontaneous, and joyful.
Miezan Daniel Tanoh
Special Education Teacher
Miezan Daniel Tanoh hails from Cote d’Ivoire, but has since found his home in Maryland. Earning degrees in Electro Physics and Accounting from Strayer University, he now shares his caring and positive attitude with the students here at Brookeville Community School. When not playing the violin or enjoying a game of soccer, he works as a nurse technician at a drug and alcohol addiction program. The message of helping individuals with Autism develop their potential and real-world skills are what attracted Miezan to CSAAC.
Riley Pope, RN, CM/DN
School Nurse
Riley Pope is a dedicated Registered Nurse with 4 years of experience in acute care and school nursing. Since January 2024, she has served as the School Nurse at the Community School of Maryland, providing healthcare services for our students. Prior to this role, Riley worked as a staff RN on the Heart and Vascular Unit, where she gained valuable experience in managing complex cardiac conditions.
Riley holds a Case Manager/Delegating Nurse certification through the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA). She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s in Nursing at Walden University, with an expected graduation in November 2024.
Wayne Tart
Occupational Therapist
WTart@csaac.orgMr. Wayne Tart is a licensed Occupational Therapist who graduated from Towson University in 1996. He has worked with individuals on the autism spectrum for over 20 years. Wayne has been employed at the Community School of Maryland for almost 14 years and has over a decade of experience working in the Prince Georges County and Montgomery County School systems. Wayne is also responsible for the horseback riding program and adapted physical education classes at CSM.
He thoroughly enjoys working with and watching our students develop skill sets that prepare and enable them to reach their individual potential and become active members of our community.
